In memoriam Peg Belson
Peg Belson, Committee member and Secretary of EACH, deceased on January 2, 2012
We are very sad to announce the sudden and unexpected death of our dear friend Peg Belson. She died 2 January 2012, in her 91st year. Although her health had been quite frail during the past decade, she managed to actively pursue her many social engagements to the very end of her life. Only a few weeks ago in November we enjoyed her lively participation at our Committee meeting in Vienna.
Peg was a member of the working group that prepared the foundation of EACH in 1993, and we all appreciated and benefited from her vast experience, knowledge and her sharp mind. When people from many countries and different backgrounds come together, discussions on the best way to proceed are inherent. Peg never failed to put us back on track by reminding us all of what was really essential and should be the centre of our considerations; the wellbeing of the child.
Since the foundation of EACH Peg acted as the delegate for Action for Sick Children UK on the Executive Committee and as Secretary.
We will deeply miss her good advice and kindness.
On the occasion of her 90th birthday, Peg received the inaugural University of Sydney’s UK Alumni Award for Lifetime Achievement. The text which was published on this occasion, describes her many accomplishments.
We will remember her always with great affection.
